Hello. I am a colour stylist based in Yalding in Kent. I organise two sewing groups and have helped them all find their best fabric colours and have run workshops to help build outfits and create personal colour wheels.
Usually a colour analysis session would cost £99 (this includes a full make up session, jewellery and hair colours),but I am offering a special shorter session for dressmakers which will just find your best colours.
Dressmaking Workshops
All of my workshops have been designed for you to feel relaxed and comfortable whilst picking up a few handy sewing skills. A brand new workshop space has been designed for you in a beautiful 1940s art deco building surrounded by quality dressmaking fabrics bursting with inspiration.
Something for you beginners….
Our Aim: The 10 Week Beginners Dressmaking Workshop teaches you everything from how to thread a sewing machine all the way to how to hem your finished garment and everything in-between. You will learn all the basic skills and knowledge you need to make a simple garment. You will be guided every step of the way and hopefully leave the 10 week workshop with a finished garment you have made and can successfully wear. The skills and knowledge will continue to grow the more your sew and hopefully your love of dressmaking will inspire others to get involved. A follow-on workshop is always available for you to attend- please ask for more dates!
What you need to bring: Just bring yourselves as everything is provided for you until week 5. On week 5 you will be asked to purchase a dressmaking pattern and fabric of your choice. We have a large warehouse full of beautiful, quality dressmaking fabrics for you to get creative and choose from. Please provide £10.00 on your first workshop for the use of your practice and sampling fabric for the first few weeks. If you would like to use your own sewing machine you are more than welcome to bring it with you. We provide The Elna Experience by Janome sewing machine which is easy to use and comes highly recommended for those of you looking to purchase a machine.

All day Monday fabric task-
I fall in love with my job over and over again!!! I am so excited to show you all this bundle of fabric heaven. I will be getting some of this loveliness online tomorrow.
Boats on the Green has defiantly proven to be a favourite of the summer. If you haven’t yet managed to get your hands on this fabric the sun is still yet to shine and we have a small amount of this fabric left for you.
This is a pure linen which is great for those long summer days on holiday or perfect for a casual evening look. This fabric has been most popular made up into relaxed trousers and fresh summer skirts. Boats on the Green has worked so well as separates as there are so many colours to mix and match tops to.
A fantastic easy trouser pattern that would be suitable for this fabric is Butterick 6223. A wide leg floaty trouser offers air and movement which is just want you want from a garment on a hot day. Kwik 2807 would also be a lovely pattern to work with if you didn’t want such a wide leg trouser.
And if you are skirt obsessed like myself very easy Vogue pattern V9061 is always a winner in my eyes along with Sew la Di Da’s Miss Maguire skirt pattern. Both patterns are an easy sew and looks great with either a plain solid red or yellow top. If you are feeling adventurous pair your skirt with a bold jersey sailor stripe top!

Newness!!!
All three of these prints are perfect for the summer months as Cotton & Linen will keep you cool and fresh on those hot sticky days. Cotton & Linen is easy to sew and a pleasure to wear. This fabric is light weight, comfortable and will make up beautiful garments for you to wear.
Below are a few patterns that have been this weeks best sellers here in Stitch Fabrics of Wanstead. If you are not a confident dressmaker these fabrics are very easy to handle and will not slip and slide around the sewing machine.
Patterns I would recommend for these fabrics are:
